This pub sounded good in the Good Beer Guide but just didn't deliver. We did accidentally take a long route there (via Ashchurch) and get stuck in a load of roadworks, but that doesn't explain it. The pub itself was quite large and was pleasant enough. But it seemed to lack ambience (too early in the week perhaps?). It looks like it is a popular eatery. The real downside was the beer selection - only one beer was on when we were there - Caledonian 80. The good beer guide describes it as "A Scottish heavy that lacks any complexity or significant hoppiness". That was about right. The lemonade was very expensive at £1.85 for a medium glass. We didn't stay long.
