In Memoriam

This page is dedicated to the memory of those pubs in Cheltenham that are no longer with us. Some will be sorely missed - some less so.

This list is not exhaustive - it only includes pubs that PubNight has Digraphs for. Some pubs have come into being and closed again before PubNight has actually managed to asign them a Digraph... such is the way of the world.

2	Axiom Arts Centre	Turned into apartments - just like all the others
3	The Angry Parrot	Cheltenham's First Micropub. Usually three beers from the barrel and two keg
4	Bass House	Has been demolished and replaced by flats!
5	Beaufort Arms	closed and Turned into housing by the same person who demolished The Greyhound and the Russell Arms
6	Cat & Fiddle	Large 1930's building near the football ground. Now Demolished and replaced by flats
7	Cork's Wine Bar
8	Calcutta	Closed. Demolished and replaced by... yes Flats
9	Cassidys	After a brief existance as Bar Cuba! it is now closed and has been converted into flats
10	Cavern	Landlord is closing it and turning it into flats
11	Dobells	It is now a Costa Coffee shop. Like Cheltenham doesn't have anywhere to get a cup of coffee
12	Dawn Run	Turned into a Meze Bar which has subsequently closed
13	Double Barrel	Now a Co-Op convenience store
14	Evergreen Inn	Now Gone and has become part of what looks like a doss house for Itinerant Workers
15	Fox & Hounds	Large 1930's building near the football ground. Now a Morrisons Local Supermarket
16	Goat and Bicycle
17	The Greyhound	Wonderful Road House Estate pub. Demolished by its new owner and now a pile of asbestos contaminated rubble. Was going to be converted to flats but I guess this way he can build more flats in the same space
18	Golden Miller
19	Hereford Arms	After a period of being "Flicks" it became the "Hereford" and then closed and became a trendy bar before becoming a restaurant
20	Horse & Jockey	Also known as The Forresters before being closed and converted into flats. The downstairs flat still has the bar in the living room.....
21	Hop Pole	Converted to apartments
22	High Roost	Converted (back) into a private residence
23	Junction	Converted to apartments
24	Leckhampton	Closed - gone to flats
25	Lion
26	The Little Owl	Demolished and houses built on the site
27	Laze Daze
28	Mitre	Gone to flats
29	New Engineers Arms	Gone to flats
30	New Penny	Has been bulldozed and has been replaced by a square box of.... yup you guessed it : flats
31	The Overton Lodge	Converted into apartments
32	The Blue Room
33	The Fairview	Used to be the Pump and Optic
34	Prince of Wales	Closed and turned into accomodation
35	Russell Arms	Never mind - the Motor Club is just round the corner
36	Railway (Swindon Road)	After being renamed the Sportsman having had the licence transferred it closed for a while before re-opening as "Best Mate". Now demolished and replaced by flats
37	Sunset Bar	Closed, redeveloped as..... flats!
38	Sherbourne Arms
39	The Sportsman	Now the "American Golf" shop
40	Wild Beer at Jessop House	Closed Down right before Race Week. Company basically said the business rates were too high
